The University of Cincinnati is a public university located in a urban dense area in the Clifton neighborhood. The campus has undergone major changes over the past decade, including the conversion of dozens of acres of surface parking and concrete into welcoming landscapes. UC strives to incorporate more greenspace, more trees, and more sustainable care practices.
UCW was hired to help in this effort, managing both tree health and risk / public safety. Mature trees on the main campus of University of Cincinnati were inventoried in 2021, and a management plan was created to prioritize work over the next five years. Over 600 trees were identified, with 73 distinct species. A management plan was then created to prioritize the highest risk trees and focused on creating a sustainable forest for faculty, staff, students and visitors alike.
UCW has also aided in improving tree protection specifications, and inspecting trees both during and post construction.
