David Gamstetter is an urban forestry consultant with UCW, provide expertise from a career in urban forestry management.
David has over 35 years of experience in urban forestry, most of which was gained during his role of City Forester/Natural Resource Manager for the Cincinnati Park Board. Dave was responsible for managing the urban forestry, greenspace, and park land management programs along 1000 miles of public streets and in 5,000 acres of parks. Dave supervised 15 full time and 8 seasonal employees who maintained public street trees, park trees, trails, wildlife areas, and major thoroughfares. He coordinated special assessment funding process through Cincinnati City Council and developed and managed an annual budget more than 2 million dollars. Dave worked closely with City Manager-appointed Urban Forestry Board and neighborhood councils to guide urban forestry operations. Dave also has 7 years of experience in environmental consulting work with the Davey Resource Group that included green infrastructure stormwater control measures and urban forestry projects. Additionally, he has 25 years of experience as an adjunct professor in the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning where he taught 300 level courses in urban forestry and horticulture. |
Dave has overseas experience, he assisted with the construction of a park in Munich, Germany and created and installed a seasonal flower display for Munich’s 850th anniversary. He also served as an International Expert on street tree and park management to provide local government support to 31 cities in the Republic of Moldova. He provided training to municipal staff and elected leaders and reviewed management and maintenance practices. The project included a preparing a report for USAID and
the Moldovan Ministry of the Environment that made recommendations for best management practices for arboriculture, park design, and urban forest management. AWARDS & CERTIFICATIONS
