Urban Canopy Works Earns SBA Designation

Urban Canopy Works Owners Jenny Gulick and Rachel Comte are honored to receive the Woman Owned Small Business designation from the U.S. Small Business Association (SBA). The SBA helps entrepreneurs launch new businesses, and compete in the marketplace. Applicants to the Women Owned Small Business Program (WOSB) must be a small business that is 51% owned by women, with women managing day-to-day operations and making long-term decisions.  "We're very happy to receive this designation,” said Jenny Gulick. “To me, it symbolizes that we had the courage to take a chance, and that we believed in ourselves and our ability to succeed doing what we love.”

Jenny Gulick and Rachel Comte are advocates and trusted partners to cities, counties, states, community non-profits, schools, cemeteries, zoos, arboreta, universities, corporations, developers, lawyers, and insurance agencies. 
 
Jenny Gulick, Arborist and Forestry Consultant has over 30 years of experience in both the public and private sectors. She is nationally known for her expertise in tree protection ordinances, operations reviews, planning and managing tree preservation projects, and conducting tree risk assessments and tree value appraisals.

Rachel Comte, Arborist and Urban Planner is a trained facilitator and communications expert. She is a leading authority on urban forestry master plans based on multiple years of experience developing plans for cities across the United States. Rachel is passionate about making cities better, healthier places for people to live, and a substantial vibrant tree canopy is an essential part of this work. Rachel said, "I'm proud to be a woman in urban forestry, a woman business owner, and to have an exceptional female business partner. There are more and more of us in this industry and as business leaders as the years progress. I'm honored to be a part of that movement."
